Isolated Idyll is a garden that provides a soft but contemporary setting for a recently converted brick and flint cottage in the heart of the South Downs.
The design includes a contained dining terrace outside the kitchen complete with a fire pit, a morning terrace to enjoy the stunning views across the Arun Valley, a formal front garden approach to the house, a ‘posh shed’, a carport and a small productive garden with raised beds and a sculptural timber bench.
Bold swathes of planting, limited to a restricted palette of ornamental grasses and chalk-tolerant plants with mostly white and blue flowers, unites the garden to the rolling downland landscape beyond the boundaries.
